Advance Directives are legal documents that allow you to dictate how you will be cared for when facing end-of-life issues including the medical care you would receive if you were too ill to choose for yourself. These directives allow you to plan ahead of time to communicate to your family and caregivers how you wish to be treated. Also referred to as a living will, these documents can allow you to accept or refuse many types of medical care when you are no longer able to speak for yourself in the matter.
